Vestiges of the castle of Senlis<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The current castle was built in the 12th century, under Louis VI the Fatty. In the 13th century, the castle was remodelled with the construction of the king’s residence and the Saint-Maurice priory. Further redevelopment work was carried out in the 15th century, particularly in the king’s bedroom. Henry IV was the last king to stay in Senlis.<\/a> In 1793, the castle was sold as a national asset.In the 19th century the castle was partially demolished. In 1956 the town of Senlis bought the castle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Viarmes castle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The beautiful classical castle of Viarmes was built in 1758 at the request of Jean-Baptiste \u00c9lie Camus de Pontcarr\u00e9, lord of Viarmes, on the site of a former fortified castle.<\/strong> It houses the town hall and a small museum<\/a> dedicated to local life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coye-la-For\u00eat<\/strong> Castle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Toussaint Rose, secretary to the cabinet of Louis XIV, laid out the ch\u00e2teau in 1655<\/strong> and carried out the hydraulic works in the park. The present castle is due to the Prince de Cond\u00e9<\/strong> who had it rebuilt in the years 1760-1770 in a neo-classical style<\/strong>. Around 1770, Cond\u00e9 set up an scarf factory in the ch\u00e2teau’s outbuildings, taking advantage of the driving power of the nearby river. This was the beginning of an pre-industrial activity<\/strong> in the village that would sustain the inhabitants for 150 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reine Blanche<\/strong> Castle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At the edge of the Comelles ponds<\/a>, old mill dressed in the “troubadour” fashion by the last prince of Cond\u00e9 <\/strong>who used it, in 1825, as a hunting rendezvous.<\/strong> Private, cannot be visited<\/p>\n\n\n\n
